The Chinchilla Breeding Process
Chinchillas begin breeding at about eight to nine months old. The females can have two litters a year and the average litter has two babies but could have as many as seven.
Baby chins weigh around 1.25 ounces and are born with their eyes open, full-furred, and with all of their 20 teeth. The babies can be weaned from their mother and ready for adoption at about two months.
